# Junto

> A budgeting app for two people who share money. Junto turns a household's
> budgets, bills and savings into one shared number: what is safe to spend
> right now. The core app is free forever; the optional Junto AI add-on is paid.

Junto is built for people who have never budgeted before. No jargon, no setup
that eats a weekend. Both partners see the same numbers, so there is no second
spreadsheet and no argument about who paid what. Amounts are always in the
household's own currency.

The site is published in eleven languages. English is at the root, every other
language sits under its own prefix, and the content is the same everywhere.

## What Junto does (free forever)

- One shared "safe to spend" number, kept up to date
- Monthly budgets split into needs and wants
- Savings goals, set aside before the spending starts
- Fixed bills and income counted in up front
- Importing transactions from your bank as CSV. There is no automatic bank sync
  yet; it is on the way.
- Two people on one budget. Sharing never costs extra.
- Connecting your own AI (Claude, ChatGPT, or anything that speaks MCP) with
  full access, at no charge. The MCP tools are add_expense, get_budget_status,
  list_expenses and contribute_to_savings.

## Junto AI (the paid part)

- Photograph a receipt and it becomes the right expense in the right budget
- Ask your budget a question in plain language inside the app, and get an
  answer with real numbers
- Monthly insights in plain language rather than charts you have to decode
- Free for the first 30 days, no card needed
- One price for the whole household, billed yearly or monthly, quoted in the
  currency of the language you are reading
